Case registers against Dy SP for alleged torturing inmates

A local court has directed to registered a case against Kannur Dy SP under section 324 of IPC (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), for allegedly torturing at police station by Special investigation team(SIT).

Complaint registered by Sumesh(27), the first accused in the sensational murder case of MSF activists Abdul Shukkoor.

Kannur JFCM (11) Judge T P Anil has directed to registered case against SP P Sukumaran and to present before the court on March 3, 2013 before the court.

The court dismissed the complaint against the other police officers including Valapatnam Circle inspector U Preman.

According to the complaint of Sumesh,a CPI(M) activists and first accused in Shukkoor murder case, had taken the police on custody on May 30 from his house.

He filed a complaint before the Kannur JFCM alleging that police brutally tortured at City police station premises under Sukumaran.

Later police produced him on June 2 at 2030 hrs before the Kannur JFCM (1) magistrate.

The incident was occurred under the city police station and Thalassery CJM court has directed to transfer the case to JFCM (11).

Yesterday, the court trialled district hospital Superintendent Dr Preetha and Kannur jail superintendent and examined the documents.

The torture of Sumesh had made controversies over the CPI(M) state committee member M V Jayarajan's statement while quizzing the CPI(M) district secretary P Jayarajan by the Special Investigation team (SIT) at guest house here.
