Aiming at a healthier and improved society with all the opportunities and infrastructure, the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Kolkata chapter on Wednesday launched the 'Better City Better Life' campaign.
This is the 3rd edition of 'Better City Better Life' campaign that is being held by the Kolkata Chapter of PRSI in association with Mayabious Art.
'Better City Better Life' will hold a special rally on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Jan 12, 2013, PRSI informed.
Besides this a panel discussion on a better society involving six panelists will be organized.
For this social cause chess player, Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua, and fashion designer Agnimitra Paul were present along with other dignitaries.
"In the past two years definitely Kolkata has gone through a sort of change socially and streets of Kolkata, and pavements have been beautified a lot, so I feel happy for this and want a lot more beautification all over our city with cleanliness" said Agnimitra Paul.
"In my eyes Kolkata is a daughter of a poor father, which connotes that not just beautification in streets or tri headed street lights would improve our society; it also needs public awareness to make our city of joy cleaner with all the good facilities and infrastructure," she said.
She said the poverty on the pavements of Kolkata surely points to our failures.
"Government must take it as a most vital issue by providing job to the adults and primary education to the street children and if I am given a chance I would love to be a part of this social issue through my constant support for them," she said.
Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua told IBNS, "We have to involve ourselves to improve our society; and for the sake of this betterment more and more trees are needed to be planted, and there should be more dustbins and litter bins."
'Better City Better life 2013' announced an web based photography competition demanding everyone's participation from Dec 17 to 31.
The organizers will also launch a special award programme in January for 15 categories, recognizing people who have excelled by contributing to the society in areas like bravery, social service, journalism, literature, medicine, environmental protection, education, administration, leadership sports, architecture, technology and painting.
