'Iconic' Melbourne Cricket Ground Australia's 'favourite place' to 'check in' on Facebook
Australia's iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground is the country's favourite place to check-in on Facebook, a new report has said.
The study of Facebook trends data has revealed that the cricket ground was the social media network's most popular Australian location to 'check in' in 2012.
According to data released exclusively to News Limited ANZ Stadium in Sydney and Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena also made the top 10 list at third and fourth place, with Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium ranking number nine.
Just three of the country's iconic tourist attractions made the list - Sydney's Darling Harbour, Bondi Beach and the Opera House, the Courier Mail reports.
Facebook data also revealed that pop music and TV shows were the most talked-about topics by Australian users in 2012, with boy band One Direction and reality shows Big Brother and The Voice the top three overall discussion subjects for the year.
The London Olympics ranked number four, beating Hollywood blockbusters The Hunger Games and The Avengers and best-selling erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, the report said.
