Stepping towards a new digital arena, Pope Benedict XVI is all set to post his first Twitter message on Wednesday.
The Pope will tweet under the name @ pontifex.
As many as 653,868 people are already following the Pope in order to receive his first message.
"In Vatican City, a Twitter employee will be by the pope's side as he taps the screen to send pre-drafted messages in eight languages from his iPad. His first tweet will be his own words, the Vatican said, but someone else may actually type it for him," The Washington Post reported.
"He will take at least three questions from his Twitter followers, but church officials from a group called the 'Pontifical Council for Social Communications' will be overseeing the interaction," the report said.
Roman Catholic Church, largest of the Christian denominations with about 1.2 billion adherents, is headed by the Pope and headquartered in Vatican.
