BSE Sensex dips on deficit data
The BSE Sensex fell 0.12 percent on Tuesday, as data showed a persistently high trade deficit renewing concerns about India's economic outlook.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 22.55 points lower at 19,387.14 with 20 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.17 percent or 10.10 points lower at 5,898.80 on Tuesday.
Optimism about reforms was overshadowed by concerns about the trade deficit compounding the country's current account deficit.
Meanwhile in the New Delhi bullion market, gold fell by Rs 35 to Rs 31,625 per 10 grams while silver lost Rs 650 to Rs 61,700 per kg.
