Carrots top as fave festive treat
Britain's favourite Christmas dinner ingredient is none other than the humble carrot.
A generous helping of carrots is the most gratifying addition to the festive plate - above even stuffing and sausages, the Daily Express reported.
They are also most likely to trigger fond memories of the past Xmas celebrations.
In the survey by Sainsbury's, potatoes were rated second with turkey third.
The Pleasure On A Plate Christmas index ranked stuffing and gravy in fourth and fifth place with parsnips sixth.
Sprouts came ninth, followed by sausages wrapped in bacon.
