Kaneria's appeal against 'lifetime ban' verdict in spot-fixing case adjourned
Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria's appeal against the lifetime ban verdict given by the England and Wales Cricket Board has reportedly been adjourned, according to a report.
Kaneria was punished by the ECB Disciplinary Panel in June for his role in a spot-fixing scheme involving former Essex team-mate Mervyn Westfield.
He was found guilty of pressuring Westfield into accepting cash in return for trying to concede a set number of runs in an over during a English county 40-over match in 2009, Sport24 reports.
According to the report, the 31-year-old, who denies all involvement in the plot, will likely have to wait until the new year for the case to resume.
The adjournment came following legal submissions from both sides in London and a new date for the hearing will be agreed in due course, the report said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Kaneria would be suspended from playing in his home country until the outcome of the case was known.
