All India Forward Bloc (FB) National Secretary G Devarajan today said FB has decided to organise statewide protest against the price hike of essential commodities and the corruption in the state on January 3.

Talking to newspersons at a press conference here today, Mr Devarajan said the state conference of the FB, which concluded yesterday, decided that a dharna would be organised at all district headquarters on January 3 to protest the hike in the prices of essential commodities.

As part of this, FB also decided to organise a campaign titled 'Nethaji Janabodhana Yahtra' from May 1 to 15 from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram.

The FB State Committee also decided to show solidarity with the Central Trade Unions joint 48-hour agitation on February 20 and 21.

Mr Devarajan also alleged the state government is trying to sabotage the Public Distribution System (PDS) in a phased manner as part of hidden agenda.

The common people were facing problem to livelihood due to the hike in prices of essential commodities, including the rice.

But the state government had failed to check the price or even find the reason for price rise.

The State Committee also demanded that compensation announced by the government should be provided to all victims of Endosulfan in Kasargod District.

The State Government should pressurise the Central Government to ban endosulfan, implement projects to save the 44 rivers in the state before the contamination and provide salaries to aided school teachers on par with government teachers among others, he said.

The state committee also re-elected Mr V Ram Mohan as the State General Secretary of FB.
