UAE launches humanitarian projects in Yemen island
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched humanitarian projects in Yemen's island of Socotra under President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's 500 million dirhams (over USD 136 million) grant.
As part of the initiative, UAE Ambassador to Yemen Abdullah Matar Al Mazrouei distributed school bags among students in Socotra island. The project is implemented by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation (KZHF).
The envoy was also briefed on the project aimed at alleviating local residents' sufferings, facing dire conditions due to events witnessed by Yemen.
