Murthy, Gopalakrishnan speak on harnessing new technology
Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and Executive Director of Tata Sons R Gopalakrishnan on Sunday emphasised on 'harnessing world class technologies' to improve the quality of lives as they addressed at the PanIIT Alumni Global Conference 2012 here.
Murthy said Indians can create technologies to improve the lives of people in the country.
"I believe we Indians can create technologies to improve the lives of people, not only in India, but all over the world," Murthy said.
"Technology have played an important role in improving lives of people," he said.
Murthy was speaking on the topic- 'Harnessing world class Technologies for millions'.
"The engineers have transformed the world in a way that was never thought of," he said.
Speaking on the topic, Gopalakrishnan said: "The market is an useful idea but not sufficient. Difficult to replicate is also as much important as it is to create."
"We should take broader idea of technology," he said.
"You may or may not have profit but you need to have endeavour," he said.
Gopalakrishnan also launched his latest book titled 'What the CEO Really Wants from You' at PanIIT Alumni Global Conference 2012 here.
NR Narayana Murthy unveiled the book at the event.
"In a small way, if you read the book, it will be interesting and anecdotal," said Gopalakrishnan.
The PanIIT Alumni Global conference 2012 which started in Kolkata on Friday ends Sunday (Dec 9).
The PanIIT Alumni Association was formed in 2002 to gather all graduating IITians from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) since 1955 under one umbrella and engage them in initiatives of common interest.
