A befitting tribute was paid to former President Sarapalli Radhakrishnan, when his bungalow was renovated and inaugurated by Karnataka Minister for Higher Education C T Ravi here today.
The bungalow, which he had occupied when he was a Professor at Mysore University from 1918 to 1921, has been restored to its original splendor by University authorities as a befitting tribute to the great scholar and statesman.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister lauded Dr Radhakrishnan as a unique teacher and philosopher Speaking on the occasion, Mr Doreswamy, MLC, who had donated Rs 50 lakh for renovation, said Dr Radhakrishnan was a great philosopher and a multi-faceted personality and the renovation of the 103-year-old bungalow, where he stayed for three years, would be an honour to him.
Briefing about the renovation process, University Engineers Somashekar and Manjunath said that the heritage structure has been retained by using lime mortar with natural binders to match the original construction.
The Minister later inaugurated the annexe of Women's Hostel, UGC-NET and Digital Information Resource Centre in University campus.
