Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee today charged that the State Election Commission was showing a partisan attitude towards opposition parties, thereby victimising them.

In a release here today, Party Spokesman A V Veeraraghavan said the State Election Commission had denied permission for the Youth Congress to organsie a free medical camp in connection with the birthday of AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi, forcing them to shift it to a nearby Tamil Nadu while Chief Minister N Rangasamy inaugurated the crushing season at the Lingareddippalayam Cooperative Sugar Mills.

Condemning the Election Commission for the act, Mr Veeraraghavan said the Chief minister should not have participated in the function at the cooperative sugar mills.

When the election commission is acting in such a way even before filing of nomination papers, how could it be impartial in the conduct of the elections, he wondered.
