The Tamil Nadu Devendrakula Velallar Politics and Social Movement urged the State Government to withdraw its order which merged all the 76 Scheduled and Scheduled tribe castes and renamed them as Adidravidas, and to redesignate them as Scheduled caste and Scheduled Tribes as in the case of other states.
Movement Coordinator and Founder President of Makkal Thamilagam Party Puratchikavidasan, briefing the newsmen on the resolutions adopted at the movement's meeting held here today, said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting.
It was also decided to draw the State Government's attention in this regard, to organise a statewide agitation during the last week of next month, he added.
He said the meeting also requested the state Government to reactivate the Devendra Kula Authority which was established during the previous DMK rule and was now in defunct status.
The meeting also requested the Union Government to takeimmediate steps on war footing on the cauvery River Water issue as the Karnataka State Government did not to obey both the directions of the Supreme court and the Cauvery River Authority, he added.
