Jayalalitha-led Tamil Nadu government has allotted a sum of Rs 1,000 crore last year to purchase and distribute 1.24 lakh laptops among student community free of cost, Higher Education Minister P Palaniappan said today.
The state government also sent abroad eligible students and teaching faculties of the Government Arts colleges for training and sanctioned a sum of Rs 14 lakh per head, he said.
The Minister was speaking here at the two-day 18th State Conference of Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers' Association.
Talking about the Chief Minister Jayalalitha's Vision-2023, Mr Palaniappan said it is aimed at developing higher education sector.
