Eden Test: England beat India

England beat India by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens and took a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series here on Sunday.

The last Indian wicket survived just 10 balls on Sunday morning and the home team's second innings ended at 247, with just a 40-odd run lead.

The visitors lost three wickets and took 12.1 overs to score the winning runs.

India's R Ashwin, who gave a fight with a gritty 91 not out in the second innings, also picked up two wickets on Sunday morning.

In the first innings, India scored 316 and England replied with a massive 523 riding on captain A Cook's 190.

Cook was named the man of the match.

The fourth Test of the series will begin on December 13 in Nagpur.
