Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal, who is one of the ardent protagonists of integrated Andhra Pradesh vehemently opposing the creation of separate Telangana state, called upon all political parties in the state to understand the importance of integrated Andhra Pradesh and the repercussions with the bifurcation of the state.
Addressing Samaikyandhra Student Joint Action Committee Meeting, here today, he said if the major political parties-the Congress, Telugu Desam party and YSRCP- agreed to the bifurcation it would 'materialize'. He asked the students to mount pressure on their local representatives, including MLAs and MPs, to take tough stand against bifurcation of the state by creating separate Telangana. The MP recalled the Centre had made it clear that "without consensus" among political parties, separate Telangana state "could not be carved out". "The emotions, which existed three years ago among people in the T-region on carving out of separate Telangana state, did "not exist" now, as they understand the importance of integrated state," he claimed. Exhorting student community to adopt Gandhian path for Samaikyandhra agitation, he said emotions of people of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra in favour of united AP are still 'strong'.
