Delhi International Kite Festival kicks off in Capital
National and International professional Kite Flying experts converged in the Capital today for the International kite festival, which kickstarted here .
The Delhi International Kite Festival, where national and International professional Kite Flying experts will showcase various types of Kites and their expertise in Kite Flying, was inaugurated by Delhi Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Women and Child Development and Languages Kiran Walia.
Present at the launch of the ceremony at India Gate were Chairman of Delhi Tourism Manish Chatrath, MD and CEO of Delhi tourism G G Saxena and MLA Rajesh Lilotia.
On this occasion a special pictorial Souvenir on Kite Festival was also released by the chief guest.
A visual delight is in store for Delhiites with various types of Kites on display.
The Kite Festival has large participation from expert Kite Flyers from across India with places like Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Gujarat, and Jodhpur. Kites like Cobra Kite, a 110 ft long Kite, Owl Kite, box kite, Tortoise Kite and Kite Trails one with 100 Kites are some of the major attractions of this festival.
The first day of the Kite Festival saw expert Kite Flyers from across the globe like Ally from Indonesia display her skills on flying Bebean. Graham Lockwood from UK, Derek Kuhn again from UK.
Michele from France is planning to enthral Delhiites with the ring type Kites, the Box Kites and Couronne kites.
Apart from this the International Kite Festival boasts of Kites like Double Square, Fibule, Genki, Delta Porde all from France.
The festival consists of stalls displaying Kites of different sizes from one square inch to 70 square inch, Kites made of tissue paper, elastic paper, bamboo, cloth, etc.
A special Theme Pavilion depicting the various types of Kites from all parts of the country and across the world have been displayed.
