JNTUK VC launches new software
The Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) Dr G Tulasi Ram Das today launched new software- 'deployment of secure messaging applications'-- developed by the Loment, a US based technology company, at a function held at the university here.
The new software was provided by the Loment under an MoU signed with the JNTUK last summer.
The MOU enables the company to transfer technology, students training in mobile application development and the formation of mobile financial services (MPS) Lab at the University.
Dr JVR Murty, Director of e-learning Projects who is also the incharge of this mobile application development lab, said current development was centered on three applications-Peanut secure SMS text messaging, Walnut secure email and cashewnut-secure web or http:messaging applications.
'While peanut is only available on mobile phones with SIM card, Walnut and Cashewnut are available on table devices, laptop and desk top computers,' he said.
All three applications are designed to offer P2p or person to person, end to end private and secure communication' he added.
