Complaints against the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) have increased in the recent years, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said there is a marginal increase in the complaints received under Banking Ombudsman Scheme, 2006 (BOS) against Public Sector Banks (PSBs).
During the year 2011-12, the total number of complaints under BOS against PSBs was 48,180 as compared to 42,724 during 2010-11 and 41,924 during 2009-10.
He said the Government has taken a number of steps to resolve the complaints of customers expeditiously by putting in place a robust grievance redressal system.
The Minister also advised the banks to follow the Banking Codes and Standard Board of India's code of banking commitments to customers and code of commitment to micro and small enterprises.
