The Celiac Support Organisation and Indian Medical Association(IMA) are launching a public awareness programme tomorrow in the capital to increase awareness about Celiac disease among both the doctors and the public at large.

Talking to reporters here, Dr Narendra Saini from IMA, said Celiac disease is caused due to allergy to gluten, a protein contained in cereals like wheat, barely and rye.

Dr Saini said the awareness about this disease continues to be poor not only among general public but even among doctors.

He said typical symptoms of this disease include chronic or recurrent diarrhea, abdominal distension and growth failure.
