Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had assured him to take steps to ensure that coal linkage granted to extension unit of Barauni Thermal Power Station was not jeopardised.
Mr Kumar told mediapersons here that he met Prime Minister in New Delhi yesterday and drew his attention to the uncertainty looming large over coal linkage to the extension unit of Barauni Thermal Power Station would affect the interest of Bihar badly.
"The temporary coal linkage from Urma Pahari was granted to Barauni Thermal Power Station but uncertainty would delay the environmental clearance, pushing behind the schedule of power generation from there," the Chief Minister said adding that the Prime Minister had assured that he would look into the matter and ensure that coal linkage to the Thermal Power station continue.
Mr Kumar said the PM also expressed his concern over the new policy for school uniform scheme as it had the provision to give stitched uniform to school students while cash transfer was being made in the account of school students under the scheme. The new policy had affected the implementation of school uniform scheme in Bihar, he added.
