KJP confident of roping in large number of BJP MLAs

A massive turnout is expected here on Sunday when the nascent Karnataka Janata Party holds a show of strength to herald the blossoming of a new regional force in Karnataka that is likely to see a realignment of political groups in the city.

Besides the BJP, the party is also likely to attract leaders from other major political parties, including the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular).

Preparations are being made in this town for the inaugural convention of the party which is yet to make an electoral debut though it has been registered with the Election Commission.

BJP legislator and convention in charge, Nehru Olekar today expressed the confidence that more than 50 legislators would be present at the convention and no threat from the State BJP leadership would hold them back.

Mr Yeddyurappa who had been hogging the media limelight held a breakfast meeting with his supporting legislators at Belgaum where the winter session of the legislature was on.

Mr Yeddyurappa indicated that over 4 lakh supporters were expected to be present at Haveri where a massive structure had been erected to hold the participants.
