Makkar urges govt to supply gas cyclinder to all gurudwaras
Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Avtar Singh Makkar today urged the Centre to supply cooking gas cylinders to all gurudwaras and other religious places on concessional rates in the country.
While interacting with media here, he said that over a lakh people took meals at Harimandir Sahib gururdwara langar daily. He pointed out that the management had to incur additional expenditure to the tune of Rs 1 crore annually due to hike in LPG cylinder price. He said that he had written a letter to the Prime Minister in this connection urging him to direct the union petroleum minister to give relief to the religious places.
Commenting on the Sirsa Dera incidents, he said that dera followers should avoid confrontation which created religious tension.
He demanded that the Haryana government should take strict action against Dera followers who were bent upon creating tension and communal disharmony. He also urged the Chief Minister to intervene in issuing the NOC for construction of the Meeri Peeri medical college at Shahabad Markanda.
He was here to visit Manji Sahib gurudwara where celebrations with regard to 400th anniversary of Bowli Sahib is being celebrated.
