The benefits for the soldiers who are awarded medals for their exemplary service will be increased to Rs 25 lakhs with retrospective effect, said Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
While inaugurated the Flag Day celebration at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here today, Mr Chandy said.
Financial assistance would be provided to those soldiers who need surgery and to those who need medical aid.
It had been decided to increase the limit for Bright student Scholarship. All necessary steps would be taken for the welfare of retired soldiers and their family members, he added.
He also informed that Rs 13 lakhs would be granted for Kannur Territorial Army. The Government would consider increasing the wages of retired soldiers who work as home guards.
Forty six welfare projects are carried out under Sainik Welfare board. Rs 9.50 crores were distributed to sainiks.
The profit of Christmas New Year Bumper lottery will be set aside for the welfare of soldiers.
