Govt exposed over Gairsain in assembly: BJP
The BJP today accused the Congress-led Uttarakhand government of "misleading" the people after the opposition-backed resolution on declaring Gairsain as summer capital of the state fell in the House today.
Leader of the Opposition Ajay Bhatt told mediapersons that the falling of the proposal tabled by former BJP minister Madan Kaushik "exposed" the government's actual intentions on the issue.
However, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister DR Indira Hridyesh countered that the BJP, which had during its own regime failed to do anything concrete about the protracted demand, was now trying to politicise the issue.
She said the Congress had initiated the step towards development of Gairsain in this direction and had already held a cabinet meeting there.
The foundation stone of the assembly house building was scheduled to be laid on the Makar Sankranti day in January next year and the MLA hostel was also planned among other things.
"If the BJP was still confused over the issue, what can we say," she commented while coming out of the house.
The house was adjourned today till Monday after transacting listed business including tabling of two proposed amendment bills and passing of two other amendment bills.
Earlier, the BJP took up various issues including the demand for early announcement of support price of sugar cane, negligence by officials of special privileges and protocol regarding legislators and traffic and cleanliness problems faced by Dehradun and Mussoorie during the question hour.
