Falling of unknown objects from sky trigger panic in Odisha village
The falling of an unknown object from the sky has triggered panic among the villagers of Majhisahi under Raibania police station.
The object containing metal netted substances fell from a flying aircraft yesterday and got scattered in the area.
While a portion of the object fell on the asbestos roof of one Bhutia Singh, another portion was found lying on the paddy field.
However, no one was injured in the incident. Villagers alleged that the object fell from IAF aircrafts during a routine exercise.
A three-member team headed by an officer in the rank of Wing Commander from Kaliakunda, the nearest flying base of IAF, rushed to the site accompanied by local police officer-in-charge Bhabagrahi Barik to take stock of the situation.
The team, sources said, had collected the pieces of the flying object which were deposited with the local police station.
Meanwhile, the local sarpanch has demanded compensation from the defence towards the damage to the asbestos roof of Bhutia Singh.
The defence team today returnd with the falling objects seized by the police and assured to consider compensation.
