ITC SRA hosts Sangeet Sammelan 2012

ITC Sangeet Research Academy (SRA) Thursday hosted the four day long 35th ITC Sangeet Sammelan here.

President of ITC Ladies Social Welfare Society Bharti Deveshwar lit up the inaugural lamps for the musical event.

Classical music maestros like Vidushi Girija Devi, Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pt. Arvind Parikh, Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and West Bengal Consumer Affairs Minister Sadhan Pande were present to enjoy the essence of Indian classical music.

Speaking on the occasion one of the gurus of SRA, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty told IBNS: "We are expecting a lot of participation from the classical music lovers in this 35th musical convocation."

"SRA since its inception is promoting good classical music and scholars all over the country and that is why it is regarded as the best systematic and traditional classical music research academy."

"The scholars will be performing at the sangeet sammelan along with maestros like Pt. Rashid Khan, Kaushiki Deshikan etc. So people are open to come and enjoy good music," he said.

The 35th ITC Sangeet Sammelan is being held from Dec 6 to 9.
