Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Friday to apprise him of the Cauvery situation in Bangalore, said reports.
"I am leading a delegation of MPs from Cauvery basin tomorrow to hold talks with Union Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is also Cauvery River Authority Chairman, to apprise them of the prevailing distress situation in Karnataka," Shettar said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ordered Karnataka to release 10,000 cusecs of water from Cauvery river to Tamil Nadu.
The apex court directed Karnataka to release the water everyday till Dec 10.
The court asked the Cauvery Monitoring Committee (CMC) to meet on Thursday or Friday to take a decision on water requirements of the two South Indian states.
The apex court's order will continue till the CMC files its report on the matter.
The case will be next heard on Dec 10.
The Supreme Court on Monday said it could consider directing Karnataka to release 20-25 thousand million cubic feet water to Tamil Nadu from Cauvery river based on a precedent.
The court was hearing Tamil Nadu's petition for immediate release of water from River Cauvery from Karnataka.
The two sides exchanged charges during an hour-long hearing and refused to come to any agreement.
Earlier, a meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her Karnataka counterpart Jagadish Shettar in Bangalore to discuss the long-standing Cauvery water dispute failed.
