National Human Rights Commission has nominated Haryana Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice Vijender Jain as a member of the committee constituted to identify specific mandate for the human rights courts in the country.
Lauding the efforts in this direction, Justice Jain said the setting up of Human Rights Courts would prove to be a milestone in the quick and fast dispensation of justice and adherence to the mandate of United Nations for the implementation of Human Rights Charter.
He said that the Committee would shortly frame the guidelines and recommendations for the constitution of human rights courts and the state governments would thereafter be requested to constitute such courts in their respective states.
He said that it would all together be new phenomena for the redressal of the grievances on account of human rights violation and the state bureaucratic machinery would become more sensitive towards the human rights of the citizens.
He hoped that the entire process would be completed in a time bound manner and Haryana would take a lead in establishing human rights courts. The state government had already taken a revolutionary step by establishing human rights commission in the state, he added.
