The women's wing of the opposition Telugu Desam Party Telugu Mahila staged a massive dharna in front of East Godavari Collectorate today protesting against the government's decision to limit the number of subsidised LPG cylinders to domestic consumers to six in a year and to increase the price of the non-subsidised cylinders.
Led by Telugu Mahila state unit chief Sobha Hymavati, Pecheti Vijayalakshmi district unit chief and Nimmakayala Chinarajappa district TDP President here, the protesters raised slogans denouncing both the state and central governments for their anti-peoples policies and demanding immediate rescinding of the order on restricting the LPG cylinders supply.
They demanded the government to control the spiraling prices of all essential commodities keeping in view the suffering of the people.
Later, they called on the additional Joint Collector B.
Ramarao in a delegation and submitted a memorandum listing out their demands.
