Mexico beauty queen killed in shootout 'likely fired gun': Police
Mexican beauty queen Maria Susana Flores Gamez, who was killed in a shootout between suspected drug traffickers and soldiers, likely fired a gun during the clash in the state of Sinaloa, police officials have said.
Police authorities have said that Gamez was likely used as a human shield and that an automatic rifle had been found near her body.
The New York Daily News quoted Federal prosecutor Enrique Fedegrino, as saying that tests indicate there was gunpowder residue on her hands.
He said authorities are still investigating if she shot at soldiers, the report said.
According to the paper, Gamez was crowned 2012 Woman of Sinaloa in February.
