Ruling alliance National Conference (NC) and Congress won one Legislative Council (LC) seat each under panchayat quota in the Kashmir valley.
An official spokesman said that after counting of votes at S K International Convention Complex (SKICC) here today, Ali Mohammad Dar of NC was declared elected from K-I seat.
Ali, who polled 8586 votes, defeated his nearest rival Peer Mohammad Hussain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by a margin of 2675 votes. Hussain got 5911 votes.
For the K-2 seat, Ghulam Nabi Monga of Congress defeated his nearest rival Yasir Reshi of PDP by a margin of 2565 votes.
Mr Monga secured 8659 votes, while Mr Reshi got 6094 votes.
Election to two LC seats from Kashmir valley was held on December 3.
There were 16 candidates contesting both the seats and 18000 sarpanchs and panchs were eligible to cast their votes.
Officials said that 90 per cent polling was recorded in both the constituencies.
This is for the first time since 1974, two seats from the Kashmir valley were filled under panchayat quota.
