Security tightened in Puducherry on 20th Babri Masjid anniv
No untoward incident was reported from any region of Puducherry on the 20th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid today, even as Muslim and Hindu organisations held demonstrations in the union territory.
Security has been tightened here and all vehicles entering the union territory were thoroughly checked at all border points.
All hotels, lodges and boarding places were also searched for strangers and asked to report to police immediately, if any stranger checked-in.
Similar security drills were adopted at the bus stand and railway station here.
The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam held a demonstration near the Swadeshi Cotton Mills urging to construct the Masjid and arrest the culprits in the case.
The Puducherry unit of the Hindu Munnani held a demonstration in front of the head post office, urging to enact a legislation for construction of the Ram temple.
