The Tribal Cultural Society (TCS) run by Tata Steel today organised an exhibition match of 'Ramdel', an ancient tribal game, here to promote the sports which was on the verge of extinction.
Nearly 80 students, both boys and girls, of Sidhu-Kanhu High School, Kedo, St Peter High School, Karandih, Gitilata High School, and Jaipal Singh Munda Institute of Education, Karandih participated in the exhibition match at Jaipal Singh Stadium at Karandih.
The finals was won by Sidhu-Kanhu High School in both boys and girls categories.
Prof Digamber Hansdah, a noted tribal figure, felicitated the winners and lauded the role of the TCS in promoting tribal sports among youth.
Set up in 1993, the TCS has been working to promote ethnic identity and tribal heritage in Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
To promote traditional sports, the TCS implements various sporting and cultural events to popularise tribal culture amongst youth and general masses.
