Denied an opportunity to make Test debut in front of home crowd, Bengal pacer Ashok Dinda was today released for Ranji Trophy tie against Saurashtra.
Dinda was widely tipped to get his Test cap at Eden Gardens in the ongoing third Test against England, but much to the dismay of city cricket-lovers his name didn't feature in the playing XI.
The team management chose to go with Ishant Sharma instead of local lad.
Dinda, who was declared as best bowler by BCCI for being the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji trophy last season, will join his Bengal mate tomorrow for the the Ranji match commencing from December 8.
Besides Dinda, Ajinkya Rahane and Harbhajan Singh, also in the 14-member squad for the ongoing Test, were released for Ranji match for their respective state.
