The opposition Janata Dal(S) in the Karnataka Assembly today demanded strict action against suspended Karnataka Milk Federation Managing Director M N Venkataram for allegedly committing fraud in purchase of cotton seeds used as animal feed.
JD(S) floor leader H D Revanna sought Government action against the former Managing Director and others of KMF, in an alleged fraud in the purchase of cotton seeds in KMF.
Mr Revanna during question hour said the previous MD had ordered purchase of cotton seeds at the rate of Rs 27,000 tonne though the sub-committee had recommended a rate of Rs 12,000.
He charged that the deal caused a loss of over Rs 48 crore to the Federation.
Replying to the charges, the Cooperative minister B J Puttaswamy said an enquiry has been ordered into the deal and the investigating agency will submit its report in another month's time. He assured the Opposition that action will be taken against those found guilty of any offence.
