With the intelligence input of militants targeting political leaders and top bureaucrats, the state Home department has decided to enhance security of as many as 11 political leaders and five bureaucrats of the state ahead of ensuing Assembly election.
According to report, National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants have made a soft target to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Leader of the Opposition Ratan Lal Nath, party chiefs of both CPI-M and Congress along with others.
"The list also includes Chief Secretary Dr S K Panda, two district magistrates and two other bureaucrats," the report stated, adding the administration had increased the security for movements of the leaders and officers.
Sources, however, added the Home department had been assessing the security cover of various leaders and bureaucrats periodically while stated the security forces had intensified anti-insurgency operation across the state.
