The six-day winter session of the Karnataka Legislature began here today with both Assembly and Council taking up obituary reference on the demise of former Prime Minister I K Gujral.
Speaker K G Bopaiah moved the condolence resolution in the House with Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah joining him in sharing the grief over the demise of stalwarts from various walks of life.
The Assembly also mourned the demise of former RSS Chief K S Sudarshan, Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, Union Minsiter and Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and veteran journalist V N Subbarao.
Earlier, speaking to newspersons at his residence in Hubli, Mr Shettar sought the opposition parties cooperation for the smooth conduct of the session being held under the shadow of resignation of former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa from the BJP and deciding to associate himself with the regional outfit-- Karnataka Janata Party (KJP).
