Goa Governor, CM greet Home Guards and Civil Defence Volunteers
Goa Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar greeted the Home guards and Civil Defence Volunteers on the occasion of their raising day tommorrow.
They have upheld their motto of 'Selfless Service' with enthusiasm and zeal. Volunteers of civil Defence and Home Guards have been rendering valuable services in strengthening the local response capabilities of the emergency services in times of need, the Governor said.
"Today, there is growing realisation in the Government that the role of Civil Defence and Home Guards should become more prominent and effective in the wake of possible internal turmoil and external threats', he said.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that the duty of Home Guards and Civil Defence Organisation is to help the community in times of emergency during natural calamities or disasters.
