The Madhya Pradesh Government today told the state Assembly that 1,416 vacant posts of doctors are being filled through the Public Service Commission.
Replying to Mr Sukhdeo Panse (Congress) during Question Hour, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Mahendra Hardia said that the process of filling vacant posts was an ongoing process.
Mr Panse had raised the matter of shortage of doctors in primary healthcare centres and the main hospital in Multai.
Mr Hardia admitted that 146 posts of experts and 76 posts of medical officers were vacant in Narmadapuram Division.
Leader of the Opposition in state Assembly Ajay Singh said that the Minister should not take the matter lightly.
On the directives of Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, Mr Hardia said that a doctor will be posted in the main hospital at Multai shortly.
