Dr James W Lankton of the UCL Institute of Archaeology, London, an internationally renowned expert on glass studies, will deliver a lecture on 'Glass Study in India: Archaeology and Scientific Analysis' here on December 11.
The focus of the talk will be on the history of Glass materials and their scientific analysis, in order to understand life in antiquity, according to a release from the KCHR here today.
The lecture is organised against the backdrop of the large quantity of glass materials unearthed from the archaeological excavations carried out by the Kerala Council for Historical Research (KCHR) at Pattanam from 2007 to 2012.
Dr James is visiting Kerala as part of the post-excavation research on the glass assemblages from Pattanam.
KCHR is organizing the lecture in association with the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) on December 11, at 1600 hrs in the Executive Launge of Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram. The Vice President of the KSCSTE, Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai will preside over the function.
