The Indo-British Health Initiative (IBHI) will host an international Diabetes Summit in the city on January 18 and 19.
Addressing a news conference here today, British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai Mike Nithavrianakis said the summit would bring together experts from across India and the UK to jointly find solutions to the crisis of diabetes.
"Senior diabetologists and endocrinologists from across India, including those from cities like Chennai, Puducherry, Kochi, Bangalore, Vellore, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bihar and Haryana, are expected to attend the Summit", he said.
Senior representatives from NHS Diabetes, Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and numerous reputed institutions from across the UK would also participate.
The Summit is targeted at several hundred private and public sector experts across India and the UK.
Mr Mike Nithavrianakis, who is also the Ex-Officio IBHI President said the summit themes include prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, obesity, wound care, nursing and allied health.
"The other topics that will figure during the summit are medical equipment, services, technologies, research and training", he said.
