UTV Stars pay tribute to Dev Anand
The Official Channel of Bollywood UTV STARS paid a tribute to Dev Anand on his first death anniversary by installing his brass statue at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade, immortalising his invaluable contributions to Indian Cinema.
Walk of the Stars, a premium property, encompasses renowned celebrities' handprints on a customized slab and specially designed brass statues of iconic legendary actors.
Dev Anand's life size statue was unveiled by Waheeda Rahman and Suneil Anand, his son. Waheeda made her debut with Dev Anand and the two of them acted together in seven movies, which is the highest for any actress with him.
Nikhil Gandhi, Business Head, UTV STARS, said: "Dev Saab is one such pillar of Hindi Cinema and will always be remembered as the 'Evergreen Hero." "With the launch of his statue at Walk of the Stars today, we hope to keep Dev Saab, his wonderful movies and his immense contribution to Bollywood 'evergreen' for all his fans and many more generations to come," he said.
Commenting on the tribute to his father, Suneil Anand said, 'My father has to his name a wonderful line up of movies and has contributed immensely to Indian and World Cinema. He continues to be a source of inspiration to millions of youth the world over. He was passionate about his work and was always forward looking. And for him to receive such an iconic tribute as recognition of his body of work is truly heartwarming. This is a momentous occasion for me and my family--Dev Anand is with us and will live forever." As a special honour, Dev Anand's statue will be installed alongside Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor's statue.
