Supreme Court upholds Pranab's election as President
The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader PA Sangma's petition challenging election of Pranab Mukherjee as President of India, reports said.
Sangma, who had run for President against Mukherjee, had filed the petition before he lost the contest.
The apex court's decision went 3:2 in favour of Muherjee.
Sangma had argued that Mukherjee held offices of profit when he filed his nomination for the election.
Mukherjee had denied the allegations.
