At least one was killed and five others got injured when a suicide car bomb hit a police station in Pakistan's northwest Bannu area early Tuesday morning, local media reported.

Local state-run TV channel PTV said that the suicide car bomb attack took place at about 6:00 a.m. local time in front of a police station in Bannu, capital town of Bannu district lying next to the militancy-hit North Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.

The suicide bomber tried to ram his explosive-laden car into the police station building through the main gate, but failed and the car exploded in front of the building, reports said.

All the five injured were policemen and part of the police station building was also damaged.

All the injured have been shifted to nearby hospital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
