John McCain, John Kerry joke about being members of exclusive White House 'losers' club
U.S. Senators John Kerry and John McCain joked with each other about neither being able to win the White House bid during a press conference on Monday.
McCain first teased Kerry by calling him 'Mr. Secretary' during the Capitol Hill press conference, in a nod that he will be nominated for a Cabinet seat.
Kerry is thought to be a top pick for the next Secretary of Defense, the New York Daily news reports.
He has also been mentioned, along with U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, as a possible replacement for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Kerry turned 'beet red', but recovered in time and made a sly joke about the 'loftier title' both men had once coveted.
"Thank you very much, Mr. President," Kerry quipped, adding: "This is what happens when two losers get together."
