200 firms show interest in National Biodiversity Expo

The National Biodiversity Expo which is to be held at Kanakakunnu here from December 21 to 30 is getting tremendous support as already 200 organisations have shown interest in participating in the 10-day Expo which is to be hosted by the Kerala State Biodiversity Board.

National Bio diversity Expo -2012 will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on December 21.

This is the first time Kerala State Biodiversity Board is organising an event of such magnitude, an official release said here today. Eighty Scientific Institutions and 20 NGOs have already registered in the Expo and many commercial stalls have shown their willingness to join. They will be there with the prime objective to create Biodiversity awareness among the commoners. KSBB was successful in roping in most of the Central Government Institutions like Central Tuber Crops Research Institute and Central Plantation Crops Research Institute.

The National Biodiversity Authority, which is the co-host of the event, will have a major stall and the major State Biodiversity Boards will also be part of the event.

The major attraction of the 10-day Expo is that National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) which is come to the Kerala for the first time.

Vigyan Prasar, Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History and M S Swaminathan Research Foundation-(MSSRF), Coimbatore are the other famous organisation which are part of the Expo.

The cynosure of the expo will be the tribal treatment camp. KIRTADS will bring tribal healers and they will impart their remedies and medicine for all ailments to the general public.
