Former Indian Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral was cremated with full state honours in New Delhi on Saturday.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice President Hamid Ansari, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and leaders from different political parties were present at Smriti Sthal in the capital when the last rites of India's 12th Prime Minister were performed amid prayers and a 21-gun salute.
According to reports, the last rites of Gujral were performed by his two sons Naresh and Vishal, and grandson Anichya.
Union Ministers A.K. Antony, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Anand Sharma, Ashwani Kumar and Farooq Abdullah were present at the venue.
Top political leaders from different political parties, including LK Advani, Arun Jaitley (BJP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) President Ram Vilas Paswan, attended Gujral's cremation.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, few senior bureaucrats and diplomats from different countries attended the event, reports said.
Earlier, Gujral's body was brought from his 5-Janpath residence to Smriti Sthal in a gun-carriage, decorated with flowers.
The body of the former Prime Minister was draped in tricolour.
On Friday, the Union government declared seven days of state mourning across the country as a mark of respect to the late leader.
The state mourning will be observed from Nov 30 to Dec 6, both days inclusive.
During this period, the national flag will be flown at half mast throughout India where it is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment.
Gujral, whose policy of pacifism with neighbours continues to influence the Asian giant's foreign policy architecture, passed away after a multi-organ failure at Medanta Medicity hospital in Gurgaon on Friday. He was 93.
Gujral, who was admitted to the hospital on November 19 with a lung infection, died at around 3:30pm.
He was unwell for quite some time and was on ventilator support.
