DMK supremo M Karunanidhi today faulted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for acting unilaterally on the Cauvery waters issue with Karnataka without taking other political parties into confidence.
'It is regrettable that an all party meeting to get the views of other parties has not been convened in Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue', the former Chief Minister told newspersons when asked about the failure of today's talks between Ms Jayalalithaa and her Karnataka counterpat Jagdish Shettar in Bangalore from Tamil Nadu's point of view.
He pointed out that the ruling BJP government in Karnataka had convened all party meeting several times on the Cauvery issue, to get the views of other parties.
Asked about the failure of the talks between the Chief ministers of the two states in Bangalore this afternoon, Mr Karunaidhi, parrying the question, said without knowing what transpired at the meeting, what did Tamil Nadu Chief Minister ask for, what did they(Karnataka government) say, have they refused to release water or told us that this was not possible now, he can met give his opinion.
