Fishing around LNG Terminal not banned
Reiterating the Indian Navy had never sent any communication to the Kerala Government suggesting that fishing around the LNG terminal here should be banned, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of Southern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Satish Soni today said, 'such reports were only rumours and misleading fishermen.'
The Indian Navy had great respect for fishermen for many reasons and it had always protected them and their rights and made sure they were able to continue fishing, he said while addressing media on board INS Sharda at Naval Base here.
'Job of the Navy is to protect the fishermen and their rights and make sure that they are able to continue fishing,' he said adding that 'Navy's aim is there is complete sanitisation of the areas around the coast where there where economic development is taking place.' 'We do this job on mutal consultation sitting across on how to operate in a common environment,' he said.
Though the Navy had always stood with the state and the country for their allround economic development and progress, it had no compromise for the security of the nation, he added.
